A FRIENDLY WARNING FROM THE NATIVES.
TIIE following has been forwarded to us with a request that wo would publish it : — Oakura, September 29, 1883. This is a notice to my European friends of Tapuae, Oakuro, Te Koru bush, Timaru, Tataraimaka, so far as Stony Rirer. I wish those who have large quantities of cattle and sheep in those districts to take care of them, and keep them on their own lands, nnd not to turn them loose on the ranges lest they be lost. Look well after your fences, as the Natives consider all things running on the ranges (which belong to tho Maoris) as their own property, and cannot allow Europeans to go there shooting cattle or anything else. It is well known that Europeans are in tho habit of: turning their cattle into the bush to find their living. This is meant as a friendly warning to you to take care of your property lest any of it be lost on Maori land. From Raukatauri.
