GOLD MINING SWINDLE.
[PEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] The shareholders of the Lankcy Creek Cement and Mining Company, Itoefton, met at Dunediu, on Tuesday, to receive the report of Mr. Fryer, an expert sent over to report on the concern. He reported that from present prospects, the thinness of the cement and the nature of the ground, it was not payable so far as drives had reached. In answer to a question, " What is your private opinion of tho claim ?" ho said he thought it was no good. Mr. Bastings, a shareholder, said anything more monstrous than this Lankey Creek proceedings had never taken place on Iho face of the earth in connection with mining swindles. He indulged in some very strong remarks about tho West Coast people generally, and about the way in which the Duncdinitcs had boen bitten.
