Melboubnb, October 1. An alarming tragedy occurred at the Bank of Victoria this afternoon. Harry Thomas, a customer of a branch Bank at Heathcote, where he carried on business as an auctioneer, entered the city office and mounted a table in the centre of the chamber, shouting — ■ " Revenge," aad then drawing a revolver attempted to commit suicide, firiug first at the ceiling and then at his head, inflicting a serious wound, which, however, is not expected to prove fatal. A meeting was held to-day at Castlemaine, when resolutions in favor of the Pacific annexation schcsnie were enthusiastically passed. In the divorce suit Bolam v. Bolam the jury were unable to agree upon a verdict, and were discharged.
