WHY ALL THIS MYSTERY.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— -I too by your paper that Mr, Reeß, tho Engineer to tho Harbour Board, ia to be sent home to England, but the Board makes it a secret why ho has to go. What ia tho mystery ? Are Sir John Coode'a plans found to be all wrong ? Has Major Atkinson and Mr. Wolls, as chairman and treasurer, discovered that the harbour should be where Balfour and Doyne said it should be, and the engineer is to bo sent home to try and persuado him to recall his plans. If this is a part of the party tactics so as to destroy all our chances of having a harbour, why wo have delayed long enough — and the engineer going home to England means further delay — therefore the Board should not be allowed to carry on in this foolish manner, but a public meeting should be called, and tho members made to explain their conduct, and why they wish to waste the publio mouoy in Bonding the engineer home to England. — I am, &c, Z.Y.X.
