WESTLAND.
April 23. — At Greymontb, a great many licenses have been refused, and tbe bench intimated that no more new ones woald be granted. Tbe Conrt sat for two days considering the applications. Tho Provincial Engineer of Westland estimates the damage done to the Christ, chnrch and West Coast road by the late floods at £5,339. He recommends tbe Conncil not to repair it, as some portions will always be liable to be washed away, and suggests a deviation at a cost of £10,265.
