NOTICES OF MOTION. TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1868.

Tho Provincial Secretary to move — " That this Council approves of tho lighterage in tho Port of New Plymouth" being conducted on and after the 30th June 18G3, on the following conditions :—: — i. That the exclusive right to nso the boatsheds onthaul buoy and the beach afc present in the occupation of the Taranaki Lighter Company, be submitted to public competition at auction, subjeofc to the following conditions :—: — (a) That tho purchaser shall bo required to give a bond to perform certain services for tho Provincial Government which are now being performed by the Taranaki Lighter Company , viz., the Harbour, Pilot, aud Customs service. (6) That the purchaser shall also be required to take over all tho plant which tho Government is" bound to take from the Tara-" naki Lighter Company, and at the same price.

2. That other persona shall be at liberty to carry on the business of lightormon on othor portions of tho boaoh, subject to harbour regulations similar to those published in the Provincial Government Gazette No. 15 1867, with the exception of a charge of £5 liconso fee per annum on each boat, and the abolition of the clause imposing wharf charges of £100 per annum." - Mr. 0. Bbown to move — "That a respectful address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent requesting him to call a meeting of the Electors of this Province to take into oonaidoration whether any, and if any, what alterations appear desirable in tho form of Government in this Province." Mr. Upjohn (o move — "That his Honor the Superintendent bo requested to cause a return of all districts in which the Road Commissioners did not cause the dog tax to bo levied in tho year 1867, to bo furnished to tbis Council." Mr. Upjohn to move — "That hiß Honor the Superintendent be requested to cause a return of all persons recoiving relief from the relief fund, or that have done so for the last six months, to be laid before tins Council." On a Futuke Day Mr. C. Brown to move — " That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable that the office of Superintendent in this Province should be in the appointment of tho General Government. That the Superintendent should represent the General Government in all colonial questions. That in all matters of local interest the Superintendent should bo guided by and act with the advice of his Executive, such Executive possessing the confidence of this Conncil. That by the proposed alteration of the ' Constitution Act,' it is beliovod tho harmonious working of the relations between tho General aud Provincial Governments- would be promoted with greater economy and good Government than can be attained under the present system."
