; Mrs J. T. Smart will..be hostess at afternoon tea at golf to-day. Miss Agnes Grant is the. guest of Mrs Donald Grant (Winchester). Miss Eileen Twomey is spending a holiday with her people in Temuka.,

Miss Mabel Aspinall arrived home at ith(i beginning of the week for the term holidays. * . The Misses Drumen, ol Dunedin, are staying with..-Mrs Gaffaney, Bellpei- Farni, Seadown. Miss Peggy Barron arrives home to-day on vacation from Canterbury College. Miss P. Counell has left for Wellington. Later she will go to Sydney on a visit to relations.

Mrs Jefferies, Greymouth, is visiting Christchurch (says an exchange). Some very enjoyable bridge parties were given during the week, the hostesses being Mrs Ashley McInnes, Mrs Fraser and -Mrs H. B. Strange.

Miss Nancy Iverach arrived in Temuka from Akaroa last week, on extended leave, and is staying with her parents at Epworth. Mrs Clark (Christchurch), who has been on a visit to her sister, Miss Brown, "Dinting House," is now the guest of Dr. and Mrs Talbot, Te Weka street, Timaru.
