PRESENTATION.
A very pleasing function eventuated at the Teinuka District High School yesterday afternoon, when the pupils of the school assembled in .the large classroom to bid farewell to Miss M. McCaskill, their late second lady assistant. .The chairman of the School Committee, Mr 11. M. Miles, sent an apology for unavoidable -absence. Mr M. McLeod, 13. A., the head master, briefly _ sketched the career of Miss McCaskill from a pupil in the otd school to a pupil rteachership, and then on to her pre-, sent position.. Ho was very sorry to lose the services of Miss McCain kill, but was glad that the girls so appreciated her services that they had spontaneously collected to mark some slight -recognition of these. -Martha Mcßride, one of the senior pupils, then read an appropriate address from the girls, wishing their late teacher all future happiness, ■igffith Hancox, a Standard IV. girl, then handed to Miss McCaskill a silver teapot from her present and former scholars. Mr D. McCaskill, in a humourous speech, suitably returned thanks on behalf of his sister Mr McLeod then referred to the esteem in which Miss McCaskill was held by her fellow teachers and their regret at losing her. She had always been most attentive and faithful in her duties, had evinced great interest in the welfare of the children outside of school duties, and was always a willing helper in arranging afternoon te a s, etc., for the Ifooys at sports of any kind.. " He thanked Miss McCaskill for all she had done, expressed the rcgrot thereat of the staff felt at losing her, and asked Miss Phillips, on behalf of the teachers, to present her with 'a silver cream jug, sugar bowl, and stand. Cheers :or Miss McCaskill brought a pleasant' function to a conclusion.
