The floor was in splendid oiler. Mr F. 11. McLean supplied cxicllent music throughout, and the •ommitteo 0 £ management were Meslames D. McCaskill, Geo. Thomson, t. Bisset, P- McCaskill, W. Tarrant, r a Gunmen, Mclnnes, A. Calder, T. b Early, Hooper,-and Jeffries, and hisses Grant - and Blyth, of vhom Mrs D. McCaskill acted as rhairwoman. The programme confisted of vocal items, recitations and Scottish dances, with the addition of he ordinary ballroom items, and these proved very attractive. McCaskill, and Mrs Guniion, aud in the earlier portion of .he programme items wore given by Mr and Mrs Jeffries, Messrs A. Hints 3. R. Macdonald, and B. B. Just prior to supper the President prosen Led each of the ladies with a piece of Scotch heather "‘the real Macbay,” received that day from Scotland, and kindly donated to the Society by Mr R. V. Phillips. About 10.30 o’clock, after the supper the president, Mr D. McCaskill, mounted the platform,, and expressed the pleasure felt by the directors and himself at seeing so many present. Of late years, owing to circumstances which were in a measure unn'oid able, the Society h a d become very much the same as an ordinary athletic society. Now it was intended to make an effort to revert to the old order of things and mane the society a Caledonian Society in fact as well as in name. This •‘lnglcsldo” was one of the results. A most appetising supper was then enjoyed, the ladies and gentlemen serving it being untiring in their eflorts to see that all were gfcisfied. -At its conclusion Mr Vv. Warrant proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the ladies who had pro-. Tided and who had dispensed it. This carried by acclamation.
