Mr J. W. S. Marchant, who has been promoted from the position of Commissioner of Crown Lands for Wellington to that of Surveyor-General, was on Saturday presented with a service of plate by past and present officers of the Lands and Survey Department who had served under him. In the absence of the Minister of Lands the presentation was made by the Hon.iW. Hall-Jones.
