Granted fine weather, and there is g>ver t probability of it, Temuka should be e lete on Boxing Day. 'L'here are severs attraction?, and an iuflux of visitors ma; be'expected. THE CALEDONIAN SPORTS. The annual sports in connection wit! the Temuka Caledonian Socioty shouli this year prove as attractive, and iudeai more attractive, thnu ever. There hav been some substantial improvement made to the surroundings of the track which oi itself was never iu better order The improvements cousist principally of; raised bank extending ior some chain: from the grand stand. This should ac commodate some thousaud spectators an r give them a good view of the varioni races aud sports. The erection of a sub atantial fence all around the track is alsc a great improvement. As for the sports themselves, it may reasonably be expected that they will be very good indeed: The bicycle races have rilled exceptionally well, iu fact, the entry is a record one. The running events will also h»ve the averaga number of competitors, and iht attendance of the Oauterbury Pipe Rand in costume is sure to cause increased interest in the Highland music an,d dauc ing. The privileges are in capible hinds, aud the convenience of the public has been studied iu every way. The surroundings of the park look very pleasing after the rain f ind no more enjoyable place can bo selected for a day's outing. PICNICS AND ANBLING. There are some people to whom sports offer little attraction, and we learn that several picnics have been arranged for Peel Forest, Geraldiue Bush, and the Milford Lagoon. The rivers are sure to be visited by uumeroui followers of the gentle craSt, and as the freshes will pro bably have ceased, excellent sport should await anglers. Latterly whenever the . river has been in order capital baskets have been obtained. THE CATHOLIC BAZAAR. For some months past arrangements have been in progress for a grand Uatholic Bazaar. A Urge, energetic, and enthusiastic committee of ladies aud gentlemen have bean working assiduously, and the b»z>ar, which wiil be opaned on the afternoon of Boxing Day at 4 o'ciock, promises to be on a very extensive ?cal<j The fair stall holders will appear iu national aud fancy costumes, and the immense display of usefu 1 , fnucy, and • artistic articles must surely attract buy.r.-i. The bazaar will be open again in the evening, the Caledonian S"c ety having foregone its privilege of usiug the Volunteer Hall on that occasion, aud will ho continued uutil Saturday night. Very attractire concerts, dramatic entertainments, aud side shows should sn've as additional attractions. A DANCE. . A dance after the sports Ims been ;i recognised institution for B'noa years. Although the Caledonian Society decided to forego its privilege on this particular occasion, lovers of danciug will have an opportunity of enjoying the pastime in the Town Hall, Temuka, where a dance is to be held under efficient management. Mr, W. flobbs will act as MO. Good music has, been arranged for, and the catering is iu able hands.
