GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board waß held on Tuesday evening. C( Present—Mesira R. H. Pearpoint (Chairman), W. S. Maslin, J. A. Quinn, W. Berry, J. Mundell, and It. Taylor. The Clerk, Mr C. CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT. :; The Chairman reported that during the month tenders bad been received and accepted for sinking and bricking the well and the work had been done in a satisfactory manner. ■ WORKS COMMITTEE. The Works Committee reported that they had visited the Raokapuka Bush in company with the contractor, and pointed out the spots at which it was considered beat to erect the large and small gates, and stills. The action of the Works Committee was approved of. BY-LAWS. It was deoided that the by-laws be published again, in accordance with the Act, and that they come into forot on February 12. V THE LAMPS. ■ ' It »»a decided to obtain new burners of a uniform pattern for all the lamps, the Works Committee to obtain suitable burners, OVERSEER'S BBPOM. The Overseer's report was read as follows: "The Chairman and members of the Geraldine Town Board. "Gentlemen, —I have the honor to report for yonr information that since the. , last ordinary meeting the work authorised;] has been oarried out, involving more labor j j than at first anticipated on account of the j' great quantity of vegetation and rabbish J which had accumulated in the water- 1 tables. The wood kerb in the centre of l the footpath has lifted, in oertain places, ' but has been pegged, down again. The , concrete kerbing on the inner side of the ' strip of asphalt would be jbetter by being H plastered during the summer months, and we have a considerable quantity of 1 oement on band, which' would almost, if t not quite, complete the work. Since the last meeting a well has been sunk and t bricked at the back of the office.. When finished:: the: water stood at 2§ feet, but it • has lowered a few inches since completion. 6 The total coat will bo about £7 12s Bd. 8 Receipts for dogs up to to-day were less „ than £l, so that I have not paid any t money into the bank on that accosnt. c The asphalt money is not coming in very „ fast, noue being received, during the , month. W. Rolleston c on the subject. The action of the Chairman was approved of and he was^ thanked for the trouble he had taken in f the matter; : • ' r o , ' '•. ' AOOOUNTB. h Accounts to the amount of £3013s 2d $ were passed and the Board resohed itself into V LOCAL BOARD 01 HEALTH. The Inspector's report was read. The only item .calling for action was that . referring to the letter of Messrs White and Smithson re Mr Cunningham's land. The Clerk was instructed to inform v Messrs White and Co. that the Inspector . of Nuisances had been instructed to report , upon the matter. t The meetiag then'adjourned.
