WEEKLY MEETING AT PARK. FINISHES GENERALLY CLOSE. There were many close finishes at the weekly evening sports meeting of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club last night, although the fields were not as large as usual. The outstanding example of a close finish was given in the final of the 75 yards senior event, when the four runners finished with only a few inches separating them.

The results were:— High jump: H. F. Fookes (lOin) sft 7Jin 1, Carroll (12in) sft 7in and C. Hoskin (Ilin) sft 7in equal 2. 75 yards junior: First heat: Skeet (2Jyds) 1, Scott (4yds) 2, Youngs (4yds) 3; 8 l-ss. Second heat: Phillpott (syds) 1, Woolley (Iyd) 2, Payne 3; 8 l-ss. Final: Phillpott 1, Woolley 2, Skeet 3; 8 2-ss. 75 yards senior: Hains (syds) 1, M. White (syds) 2, Hoskin (6yds) 3; 7 4-ss. Second heat: Whittington 1, Coombes (31yds) 2, Gray 3; 7 3-ss. Final: Coombes 1/Hoskin and Hains equal 2; 7 4-ss. Morris, a visiting Auckland rider, actually won but he could not be included in the club points. 220 yards junior: Woolley (Syds) 1, Famell (6yds) 2, Hutton 3; 25 l-ss. 220 yards senior: First heat: Coombes (12yds) 1, Bennett (14yds) 2, Carroll (17 yds) 3; 23 l-ss. Second heat: Evans (16 yds) 1, Innes (13yds) 2, M. White (17 yds) 3; 235.' Final: Innes 1, Carroll 2, Evans 3; 22 3-ss. One mile senior: Hodgson (30yds) 1, Thompson (90yds) 2, Wilson (110yds) 3; 4m 36 2-ss. Hodgson joined Thompson in the'lead nearing the straight, where in 9 great finish Hodgson won by inches. 100 yards women: Miss Chivers (12 yds) 1, Miss Stevens (6yds) 2, Miss Richmond (6yds) 3, 12 l-ss. Two miles cycle: C. Hawkins (130 yds) 1, Canty (390yds) 2, Rutherford (390 yds) 3. Hawkins joined the limit men in the sixth lap and won by two lengths. 440 yards relay: Distance runners (F.
