PREPARATIONS AT TE POPO.

Great interest in the Christmas tree and breaking-up ceremony for the Te Popo school is being taken in the district. A meeting of the women of Te Popo district was held at the residence of Mrs. Reed on Thursday to discuss the matter, which was referred to them by the school committee at its meeting earlier in the week. Afternoon tea was served by Miss M. Reed. The monthly meeting of the Te Popo school committee was held at the school on Monday. There were present Messrs. J. H. S. Bishop (chairman), T. L. Gibbs, A. W. Agent, N. Corkill and W. Jackson (treasurer). Mr. Marshall, the teacher, was also present. The attendance had again been effected by colds amongst the children, he reported. Mr. Agent and Mr. Corkill reported having inspected the children’s entries for the calf competition and that the calves were of an exceptional 1 - good type. The holding of a Christmas tree at the break-up was discussed, and it was decided to leave the arrangements in the hands of the women of the district. The school grounds were looking very well, it was stated. Mrs. T. Gibbs had started training the children for their,annual concert. Personal.

Mrs. R. MacMillan is visiting her parents at Waverley.

Mrs. Doreen Vick, is still in the Stratford hospital but reports are very favourable. Miss Jeanne Farrell has returned to Kohuratahi after spending a few weeks with Mrs. T. Gibbs.
