WOMEN’S GOLF EVENT

TOURNAMENT AT HAWERA QUALIFYING ROUNDS PLAYED. TEAMS MATCH WON BY HAWERA A. Qualifying rounds were completed yesterday in tire South Taranaki women’s golf tournament on the Fah'field links, Hawera. The course was in excellent order and the greens fast. A cold wind made conditions difficult. The teams match resulted: — Hawera A: Mesdames Walkley and Thomson, Misses E. Burgess and V. Death, 364, 1. „ , 1. j Wanganui B: Mesdames Cook, Richardson, Brown and Bristol, 371, 2. Wanganui A: Mesdames Young and Grace, Miss Blyth and Mrs. Broderick, 374 3. Eltham: Mesdames Casey, Quin, Goldsbury and Miss Syme, 292. Hawera B: Mrs. Dalgetty, Misses Wills, Bright and Tonks, 400. In both of the morning medal rounds, which were played in conjunction with the qualifying rounds, ties occurred. In the senior Miss V. Death 88—10—78 tied with Mrs. Collis Brown (Wanganui) 93— 15—78, Miss Death being adjudged the winner on the last nine holes. In the junior, Mrs. Coy 99-19-80 tied with Mirs. Gault 112—32—80, and Mrs. Coy was declared the winner on the last nine holes. Miss Bright 93-17-76 won the senior afternoon medal round, and Mrs. Gault 107—32—75 won the junior.
