TOKO SCHOOL
MEETING 07 COMMITTEE. The Toko school committee held its monthly meeting on Monday. There were present Messrs. G. Were (honorary secretary), T. Needham (chairman), J. Caskey and E. Milne. The chairman reported that during the holidays the school had been scrubbed and the floors rJ leu. He remarked that the school now looked spick and span as the buildings had been painted, the hedges clipped and the grounds cleaned generally. The headmaste.- reported that the average attendance for th second term was 92.1 and the roll numbe.- 98. This must be considered good as the children came from a wide area, many riding from three to five miles, and large number coming from the village a mile and ahalf away. There had been very little sickness though several children had been in hospital owibt, to accidents. The inspectors, Messrs. Haslam and Henry, visited the school during the term and had forwarded their report. Mr. Syme, instructor in agriculture, also paid a visit, and Miss Bcswick prepared the children for the doctor’s visit.
