TENNIS PLAYED IN BAD WEATHER. NO MATCHES FOR WOMEN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7.30 p.m. Forest Hills, Sept. 2. The national tennis championships were continued to-day in bad weather. Perry was enjoying the warmth of a pine log fire at the suburban home of friends. As it was a drizzly, chilly day, he rebelled when officials telephoned that his match would be played as scheduled, but he capitulated He marched on to the court without his customary smile. Parker broke through the third game for a 2—l lead. This roused Perry, who ended the conflict as quickly as possible. All women’s matches were called off. Results were:— Perry defeated Parker, 6—4, 6—2, 6—o. Shields beat Frank Bowden (New York), 6—l, 6—4, 6-h. Menzel defeated Laird Watt (Montreal), 6-4, 6—2, 6—3. EASY WIN FOR AUSTRALIA. TENNIS TEST IN SOUTH AFRICA. Durban, Sept. 2. Matches in the tennis test between Australia and South Africa resulted:— Crawford (Australia) defeated Robins (South Africa), 6 —3, 2—6, 6—2. Quist (Australia) defeated Farquharson (South Africa), 6—2, 6—4. Crawford and Quist defeated Farquharson and Kirby, 5—7, 6—3, 6—3, 9—7. Australia won by four matches to one. Saturday’s uncompleted doubles were abandoned.
