PERIOD REDUCED
TROTTING DISQUALIFICATION. APPEAL OF F. G. HOLMES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. F. G. Holmes, who was disqualified for six months recently by the New Zealand Trotting Association for “being guilty of misconduct and misbehaviour calculated to injure the sport of trotting,” appealed to the Trotting Conference against the decision. The judges, Messrs. H. J. Otley, H. D. Acland and G. T. Weston, met at Christchurch to-day and delivered the following verdict: — “Having considered the evidence and heard the appellant, Freeman Graham Holmes, by his counsel, Mr. A. A. McLachlan, we are of opinion that the decision of the association was right but that the period of disqualification should be reduced to five months.
“The appeal is dismissed, but we direct that the period of disqualification be reduced as above. We also direct that the appellant’s deposit be returned.”
