FIVE GOALS AGAINST MOTUROA. COMBINATION OF WINNING TEAM. Thistle beat Moturoa by five goals to nil in a match at Fitzroy. Moturoa penetrated to the other end, Gray sending behind when well placed. Tricky' play between R. Rae and Hill had the Moturoa defence tangled, but Hill sent the ball narrowly past the post. Moturoa again got near Thistle’s goal, but over-eagerness spoilt the chance. Collingwood, who centred to his brother; the Moturoa goal was in danger, R. Roper just managing to scrape the ball away. Henderson passed to Hill, who crossed a fine ball to strike the crossbar, the goalkeeper being beaten. Thistle attacked again, R. Rae sending a perfect pass to • Hill; Hill crossed for J. Collingwood to obtain the second goal by touching the ball past R. Roper. After this the play was more evenly distributed. J. Rae, in the Thistle goal, had to save two shots in quick succession, but the ball was soon transferred to the other end and at half-time Thistle was looking for an opening. Gardner kicked off in the second spell, but Crawford sent well upfield to C. Collingwood, whose shot went behind. From the goal kick Moturoa made headway until sent back by McKay who, with Crawford, was playing a sterling game at full-back. After this Thistle took complete command of the game, hemming in Moturoa. R. Roper saved shots from HiU and J. Collingwood, but the next moment J. Collingwood beat him with the third goal. Wingrove was hurt but soon recovered and again the play hovered round the Moturoa goal and Hill sent in a great shot, beating Moturoa’s goalkeeper all the way. Parrish kicked well downfield, where White had hard, luck in sending the ball narrowly past the post. Towards the end of the game ,after a fine piece of play between R. Rae and Hill, J.
