CHEAP PURCHASE
AUCKLAND WAREHOUSE SOLD. BIDDING QUICKLY FINISHED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Within a few minutes the warehouse, of Messrs. P. Hayman and Co., Customs Street east, was sold at public auction to the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co. Ltd., the price being £BO5O. The opening bid was for £6500, the price rising quickly by an amount of £250 and then by amounts of £lOOO to £BOOO. A rise of £5O closed the transaction, the general opinion' being that an excellent property had been obtained for a favourable price. The warehouse, which has road access at the back, is only 60 yards from Queen Street and has a frontage of 99feet to Customs Street. The building, of brick, comprises four storeys and a basement. The property is held on lease from the Auckland Harbour Board for a term expiring in 1948 at an annual rental of £370 with half the compensation for the building at the end of the lease. A new lease can be obtained if desired.
