CHAIRMAN’S ACTION CHALLENGED.

HARRIER MEETING DISPUTE.

“For what it’s worth I’ll give my casting vote in favour of the motion,” said Mr. R. W. Watterson, chairman of the conference of harrier delegates this evening at the conclusion of voting on a motion. His action was challenged by speakers. ' ~, The motion was: That a sub-committee be set up to draw up a constitution for a federated body having full power of control and ■ management of the harrier movement; such body to be affiliated with the New, Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.” It was moved by Mr. Wav terson (Wellington). After by the West Coast (North Island) Centre had been lost, Canterbury, Hawkes Bay and Wellington voted for the motion with Auckland, Otago and West Coast against. A dispute as to whether the chairman had a casting vote followed. Auckland and West Coast delegates asked that their protest at the casting vote be recorded.
