SOUTH TARANAKI POWER
BOARD GAINS 12 CONSUMERS. The South Taranaki Power Board met last night. The units generated in May were 197,400, while 365,933 were purchased from the Public Works Department, an increase of 12,087 units over May, 1934, reported, the engineer, Mr. T. R. Overton. The Vickers-Petter engine ran for 26 hours for peak reduction and stand-by purposes. During the month there was an average of nine inches of water over the crest of the weir. Constructional work had been carried out on the Taumaha, Ball, Little Tempsky and Kaharoa roads and at Manaia. A number of service lines had been erected. A considerable amount of reconstruction and maintenance work had also been carried out. , Interruptions in supply from the Public Works Department occurred on May 19 and 21, for four minutes each, caused by lightning. On June 8 two two-mm-ute interruptions occurred, and on June 17 there were two momentary interruptions. / One hundred and thirty-two permits were issued for different classes of work and 163 inspections, including 60 re-in-spections, were made. General inquiries had been attended to and a canvass had been made of' Fraser, Austin, Lower Manutahi and Hunt roads, and Otautu and Meremere. The two latter districts would be completed in time for the July meeting. Twelve new consumers had been gained during the month, making a total of 3097. The month’s increase in load was 83.061 kilowatts, giving a total connected load of 8042.647 kilowatts.
