DEATH IN COLLISION
MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE SEQUEL.
RESIDENT OF OKATO REMANDED.
Charged with manslaughter as a result of the death of Stanley Carlyon on April 27, David Vincent Roguski, Carrington Road, Okato, was yesterday remanded until Monday by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at New Plymouth. The charge arose from an accident in St. Aubyn Street, New Plymouth, in the early hours of Sunday, April 28, when Carlyon, who was riding a motor-cycle towards Moturoa, collided with the rear of Roguski’s motor-truck, which was parked at an angle on the side of the street. The indictment alleges that Roguski negligently parked the truck without lights. When Roguski appeared before Mr. Woodward, Detective P. Kearney, who said Roguski had just been arrested, asked for a remand until Monday next, when, he said, the police would be ready to proceed. Mr. I. W. B. Roy, who appeared for Roguski, raised no objection to the remand and asked for bail. On Detective Kearney consenting to bail the magistrate fixed it' at £lOO in one surety, giving permission for the number of sureties to be amended if required.
