PROSPECTS OF RUAFORM

HAWERA TRACK PREPARATIONS. YEARLINGS SHAPE ATTRACTIVELY. (By “Limited.”) Ruaform is expected to be likely to play a prominent part in the decision of the Penrose Hurdles at Ellerslie to-day. On the outside of the Hawera course proper on Saturday*, morning Arouse (Cole) had a big advantage from Carfex (Cook) at a barrier start which he maintained to the end of a four furlong sprint covered in 565. The maiden Kiaora (Edgecombe) had her first test against the watch, running three furlongs down the back in 41 3-ss. The filly ran greenly, but the effort was very satisfactory for a first attempt. During J. Fryer’s absence at Auckland his team is doing road exercise. Lowenberg, .Golden Hair and Topthom did steady work, similar work being apportioned Bantry and Anslem. The conditions of the Trial Plate at the Wellington club’s meeting next month prevent the two-year-olds Bantry and Lowenberg from competing, both having won over £5O. Two of Hawera’s forward yearlings, Votium, of Lysander—Makepiece, and the Gay Shield—Persis 3 youngster were sprinted up the straight, both shaping very attractively, displaying good action and running straight. Both can easily be prepared for the earliest two-year-old events. Colossal, Lady Eka, St. Clara and Miss Louvain all performed routine exercise work.
