' The balance-sheet showed receipts, including balance brought forward, of £2OB 10s 6d and expenditure of £163 10s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £45 0s 2d. The assets were Shown as £ll6’ 10s Bd, including hay valued at £2O to £3O and cash in bank £45 0s 2d. Liabilities are nil.

The annual report stated that the season just closed had not been so successful as previous years in the matter of finance, there being a decrease of £5 8s 4d. Trophies for competition during the season were presented by Messrs. J. Hannan, M. Fahy and H. Leslie, and the Mockett Cup was competed for as formerly. The main item in accounting for shrinkage in the club’s balance at the bank was the payment of‘rent for the ground where the coursing is carried on. This was the first time in the history of the club that the committee had been faced with this problem. At the end of the season the committee decided to close the property up for hay. Tenders were called later for the pur» chase of the crop. One tender was received, but this was deemed unsatisfactory so the committee harvested the crop itself. Afternoon tea arrangements were attended to by a women’s committee, to Which the club expressed thanks. The committee also thanked dog-owners and others who helped to keep the sport alive. Repairs and renewals were necessary to fences and equipment. The chairman stated that the club was in a good financial position and, although the balance had decreased a little last year, assets had considerably increased. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Hon. S. G. Smith; president, Mr. M. Fahy; vice-presidents, eight; auditor, Mr. W. Johnston; committee, Messrs. S. Crow, J. Bristol, G. Bennett, D. Laurent, W. Spurdie, E. A. Johnston and L. A. Jury; secretary and treasurer, Mr. L. A. Jury. It was decided that a working bee be held at the week-end a,t the Plumpton. A donation of'£2 2s was voted to the Waitara volunteer fire brigade. A letter of sympathy is to be forwarded to Mrs. E. Jury in the death of her husband. Mr. Jury was a strong supporter of the club.

Votes of thanks were recorded to the Press and to the chairman and secretary.
