DEATH OF MR. JAMES RODIE.

ONCE HAWERA STATIONMASTER.

There died, at Hawera at an early hour yesterday morning Mr. James Rodie, who was for a number of years before his retirement about 12 years ago stationmaster at Hawera. Of Scottish descent, Mr. Rodie spent about 40 years in New Zealand as a railwayman. He joined the service m the South Island, coming later to the North Island, where he held important positions and was for some years before coining to Hawera stationed at Wanganui, while he carried out relieving duties at various centres. At the conclusion of his service at Hawera, where he retired from the service, he was honoured at a public gathering in the railway social hall.
