FEW CHANGES LIKELY
PATEA LOCAL BODIES PERSONNEL. FEW NEW CANDIDATES. The possibility of there being many rhanges in the personnel of local bodies which meet at Patea is rather remote, as it is anticipated that most of the sitting members will again contest the seats they hold and it is improbable that there will be many new candidates in the field at the forthcoming elections. It is expected that all the members of the present Patea County Council will offer themselves again, with the possible exception of,.M r - R. G- Scown. If Mr. Scown. decides to retire the name of Mr. A. J. Gibles, Alton, a former councillor, has been mentioned, though neither has definitely indicated his intentions. The members of the present council are Messrs. W. G. Belton (chairman), J. Lupton, R. J. Watt, R. G. Scown, D. Hurley junr., J. Peat, W. Back, C. E. Johnston and W. H. Watkins. Change on the Patea Hospital Board, which consists of Messrs. C. R. Honeyfield (chairman), A. T. Christensen, C. E. Johnston. W. Back, J. Lupton, H. Middleton, W. H. Watkins, R. J. Watt and R. G. Scown, are unlikely. It is understood that all the present members wifi again offer their services, and so far no new aspirants have been mentioned. All the members of the Patea Harbour Board, except Mr. A. T. Christensen Government nominee and chairman, will retire and all will probably be nominated again. Mr. Christensen has received notice of his re-appointment but has not yet made known his decision. So far no older candidates have intimated their intention of seeking office.
