TRIBUTES TO THE STAFF. MEETING OF POWER BOARD. , The efforts of the executive committee and the clerical and engineering staffs of the South Taranaki Electric Power Board found favour with members of the board at the meeting on Friday night The meeting was the last at which the present board would assemble before the forthcoming ■ elections. Messrs. Long, Campbell and Snowdon expressed appreciation of the part played by the chairman (Mr. Murdoch), the secretary (Mr. R. P. Baigent), the engineer (Mr. T. R. Overton) and their staffs in building up the present efficient organisation. Their courtesy and consideration at all times was most commendable, said the speakers. Appreciation was also expressed of the services of the board’s solicitor (Mr. J. Houston). The chairman thanked board members for their assistance during the year and expressed the hope that in the interests of the ratepayers they would be returned. The chairman’s good wishes were reciprocated on-behalf of board members by Mr. Washer. The tender of Mr. H. G. Tonks, Hawera, was accepted for the erection of a cottage at the Normanby power house, and that of Mr. R. E. Familton for the erection of a portable garage. ( Satisfactory results had been gained from the recent special offer installations, it was reported, and it was decided that a further special offer scheme should be submitted to the next meeting. Increases of 32,412 units and 66 kilowatts over the figures for March, 1934, were reported by the engineer, Mr. T. R. Overton. The Vickers-petter engine ran two hours for stand-by purposes. The river flow had been in excess of station capacity, an average of two feet passing over the .weir crest during the month. The bulk supply at the substation had functioned satisfactorily, one interruption occurring on March 24 for three minutes. Ninety-one permits were issued for all classes of installation work and 144 inspections including 78 reinspections were carried out. The electrical contractors had been kept busy, and there was a fair amount of work in hand. The inspecting engineer of the Public Works Department head office had inspected on March 19 all extensions made during the past year. All the permits to use those lines had been issued by the Minister of Public Works. As a result of police investigations into the wilful damage of insulators and street lights two boys had been brought before the juvenile court, admonished and ordered to make good the damage done. Those present were Messrs. J. B. Murdoch (chairman), J. E. Campbell, E. A. Pacey, A. J. Christie, F. Parsons, A. J. Gibbs, E. A. Washer, E. Lang, J. W. Snowdon and W. Rothery.
