RESERVE NEEDED
. HAWERA BADMINTON CLUB. The need for building up a strong reserve 'was mentioned by the president, Mr. R. Syme, when moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet at the annual meeting of the Hawera Badminton Club on Wednesday. There was a fair attendance of members. •Tjie balance-sheet presented, said Mr. Syme,. showed a particularly good position, but it was necessary further to improve it.* In doing so, he added, it would be unwise to place restrictions on members, hut a fund would be useful in emergency. It was decided to fix the membership at 50 and .an endeavour will be made to have .an equal number of players, of either sex. On suitable nights of play, a “closed” . period will be observed, when the committee will take charge of play, mixing the good players with the less proficient. Appreciation of the services of Messrs. Syme and G. Lawrence (auditor) was expressed by members. The question of nights ana hours of play was left to the committee.
