Mr. S. E. Nielson, who has been a member of the New Plymouth Airport Board representing the New Plymouth Aero Club, was last night officially appointed secretary to the board. It will be necessary to replace him on the board. Mr. J. R. Cruickshank, New Plymouth, has been re-elected Government representative on the New Plymouth Harbour Board for a further period of tluree years. Advice to this effect was received from the Marine Department at the monthly meeting of the board yesterday. Intimation that he would not seek reelection as a member of the board was given by Mr. C. H. Burgess at the monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Harbour Board yesterday. Mr. Burgess expressed appreciation of the support of the ratepayers of the district he and Mr. E. Maxwell represented. He thanked the board for its courtesy and consideration. The chairman, Mr. C. E. Bellringer, expressed regret at Mr. Burgess’ retirement. The board ■ appreciated the assistance he had given it and had benefited by his counsel and advice, said the chairman. Mr. Burgess had been a member of the board for many years and had seen it grow from a small coastal port into one of the finest “artificial” ports in the Dominion.
