SPORTS AND PASTIMES CLUB. PERSONAL AND GENERAL ITEMS. A meeting of the management committee of the Tariki Sports and! Pastimes Club on Friday was presided over by Mr. W. J. Byrne. Mr. W. Thompson attended the meeting by invitation to consider a proposal for forming a boxing class. The chairman outlined the proposals of the club and, after hearing Mr. Thompson’s views, it was decided to appoint him as official trainer to the club. The club has every facility for boxing. Officials for the Easter Monday 10-a-side Bugby tournament were appointed as follows: Announcer, Mr. W. J. Byrne; call stewards, Messrs. W. Thompson and P. Huzziff; patrol stewards, Messrs. T. Wright and J. Mahon; blackboard steward, Mr. D. Walker; timekeeper, Mr. L. Hollis; protest committee, Messrs. W. J. Byrne, H. McCullum, S. Walker and the secretary; emergency committee, Messrs. H. McCullum, E. Mahon and the secretary; fireman (day), Mr. L. Huzziff, night, Mr. T. Rumball; gatekeepers, Messrs. H. Rumball, W. Blair and E. Mahon. The second of the series of fortnightly progressive euchre tournaments of the Tariki platoon was held on Saturday. There were six tables occupied under the supervision of Lance-Corporal Taylor. The winners were Mrs. W. Loveridge (Tariki) and Mr. L. Davis (Rugby Road).

Tariki, holder of the Avon Stars, visited Stratford; at the week-end and was defeated by 33 to 18. Following are the details:— A. T. Boundy, Dwyer, Stephens, J. Weston 26 — Petch, F. Laurence, W. Morse, W. Blair — 14 Personal Items. Miss Barbara Harkness, who has been on a visit to New Plymouth as the guest of Mrs. B. H. Bullock, has returned to Tariki. Mr. I. McCullum has returned from a business trip to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. S. Horsnell, who have been on a visit to the Tauranga and Hamilton districts, returned to Tariki for the week-end and are now visiting Dannevirke.
