BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. PERSONAL AND GENERAL ITEMS. An Awakino bowling competition finished at the week-end for prizes given by Messrs. L. R. Jones and J. N. Bryant was won by A. Sampson (skip) and S. Whitehead (lead). A points prize for the competition given by Mr. Whitehead was won by G. Thomas. At a meeting of the dental clinic committee on Saturday Mr. Stein was appointed secretary and in lieu of Mr. A. C. Richards, who resigned on leaving the district. A meeting of the executive of the boys and girls’ club was held at Awakino on Saturday. Mr. J. N. Bryant presided over a gathering representative of Mahoenui, Whareorino, Mokau, Mohakatino, Awakino, Ahititl, Okau, Mangatoi and Mackford. The chief business was the election of a secretary and treasurer, Mr. Stein, Awakino, being appointed. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Jones returned on Sunday from a tour of Rotorua, Taupo and Auckland. They were accompanied by Mr. S. Jones and Miss P. Jones. Mr. Frazer Smith is attending the annual dog trials at Tuakau. Mr. Stan McMillan, Hunterville, is spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Frazer Smith, “Bournemouth.” Miss Rutherfurd is the guest of Miss J. Munroe, “Piri Piri.” Miss Patricia Calvert, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. L. R. Jones. Miss Margaret Hitchings, who has been the guest of Mrs. , Guild Richards, “Taumatemaire,” has returned to Otorohanga. Mr. F. King, “Paparahia,” and Miss F. King leave on Wednesday for the Tuakau dog trials. Messrs. S. Hart, D. Calvert and R. King are attending the Tuakau dog trials. The “tin-can” band visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Warren on Wednesday evening. Owing to the large number of visitors an adjournment was made to the hall, where a jolly time was spent in dancing and singing. Items were given by Mr. George Thomas, Richard Hunt and Archie Martin.

Mr. and Mrs. H. May, Te Awamutu, are visiting Awakino. Messrs. G. Thomas, W. Thomas, H. May, J. Hatton and A. Keay motored to New Plymouth on Tuesday to attend a farewell to Mr. R. Pike. Mr. F. King, “Paparahia,” returned on Tuesday from the Paparangi dog trials.
