ROYAL BANQUET
“FEAST OF THE FIVE KINGS.” FIVE PRINCES TO ATTEND. On Wednesday, May 15, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Prince Arthur of Connaught will be the guests of the Earl of Athlone (Master), 'Mr. R. 'Husey Cunningham, Mr. Spencer J. Mabey, Mr. J. S. Cotman (Wardens), and the Court of Assistants of the Vintners’ Company at a banquet at the Vintners’ Hall. The gathering will commemorate the “Feast of the Five Kings,” held in 1636, when Sir Henry Picard, Master of the Vintners’ Company, entertained Edward 111. of England, David of Scotland, John of France, Waldemar 111. of Denmark and Amadeus XI. of Savoy. It is ■ expected that about 50 other guests will be present, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs of the City of London, and representative of the Imperial Forces, the Law, the Arts and Commerce. The ancient custom of the presentation of cygnets to the Master by the Swan Warden, Mr. J. S. Cotman, will be observed with all its old-time ceremonial, as it was, according to tradition, at the Feast of the Five Kings in 1363.
