TENNIS AT MAKAHU
RAIN INTERRUPTS PLAY. Playing at Makahu at the week-end, the Tutytawa tennis team was leading by seven sets to three when heavy rain prevented further play. Details are as follows, Tututawa players being mentioned first:— Women’s singles: Miss Walker beat Mrs. N. Kopke 6—4. Women's doubles: Mrs. Norris and Miss Bunning beat Misses E. and A. Coyne 6—2, Mrs. Cutfield and Mrs. Welch led Mrs. Dalgleish and Mrs. Coyne 3—2 (unfinished), Miss Walker and Miss M. Jacobsen beat Miss N. Kopke and Miss Burgess 6—4. Men’s doubles: R. Corry and P. Norris lost to J. Coyne and A. Kopke 5— L. Walker and W. Jacobsen lost to J. Dalgleish and R. De la Rue 4—6, M. Walker and N. Walker beat J. Boyle and J. Ford 6—2. Combined doubles: R. Corry and Mrs. Norris beat J. Coyne and Miss E. Coyne 6- P. Norris and Miss Bunning lost to A. Kopke and Miss A. Coyne 5—6, L. Walker and Mrs. Cutfield beat R. De la Rue and Mrs. Dalgleish 6—4, W. Jacobsen and Mrs. Welch beat J. Dalgleish and Mrs. Coyne 6—2. Personal Items. Mr. F, Manning, Waverley, paid a short visit to his parents at Makahu at the week-end. Miss Cowan and Mr. P. Reardon were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Coyne.
