SUCCESSFUL TENNIS DANCE. Decorated • with greenery, thJ Oakura hall on Tuesday night was crowded for the monthly tennis dance. Music was supplied by Hooker’s Merrymakers, with extras by Mrs. H. Corbett and Mr. T. Meredith. Messrs. C. Jans and C. Pease were masters of ceremonies. Winners of the novelty dances were: Monte Carlo, Miss Enid ' Gray and partner; fox-trot Monte Carlo, Miss Fay Bell and partner; Dutch Monte Carlo, Miss Maude McCabe and Mr. Stan Moorby, Mrs. R. Knapman presented one of the prizes. Mr. Len Blanchard was in charge of euchre for non-dancers. Mrs. T. Smart' and Miss H. Staveley tied for the women’s first prize and Mr. C. Grey won the men’s. Consolation prizes presented by Mrs. H. Staveley were won by Mrs. W. A. Thomas and Mr. L. Grey. Owing to the rain on Sunday afternoon the tennis match between . the Oakura A and the Highland A teams had to be postponed when half through. Mrs. F. Jury and Miss Doris Jury left last week for a holiday at Hamilton, Mr. Chas Price arrived home on Thursday evening after spending a month’s holiday at Auckland and Whangaroa. Mrs. E. F. Giddy, who was the guest of her mother, Mrs. Price, for a month, left last week for her new home at Pukemako, Mangapehi.
