CODLIN MOTH PEST
NOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE EMBARGO INSPECTION OF DELICIOUS BRAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. After visiting orchards in the vicinity of Auckland in company with Mr. J. A. Campbell, director of the horticultural division of the Department of Agriculture, the Fruit Export Board decided that the ravages of the codlin moth in Delicious apples were not as extensive as to justify an embargo on the export of this variety, as has been suggested, but that all apples for export would still be inspected by officers of the Agricultural Department. Of 130,000 cases of apples which are to be exported from Auckland this season 62,000 cases will contain Delicious apples. A small proportion will go to Canada and America, but the bulk will go to England.
