BUOYANT REVENUE

BRITISH TREASURY RETURNS. INCREASE IN INCOME TAX. (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, March 12. With three weeks to run before the end of the financial year the latest Treasury returns show that ordinary revenue up to March 9 amounted to £663,326,254, which was £21,727,865 more than last week’s figures. The estimate for the year is £706,520,000. At the corresponding date last year ordinary revenue totalled £676,908,092. Income tax collected last week amounted to £10,305,000, bringing the total to date to £212,883,000, compared with £211,532,000 on the corresponding date last year. The Budget estimate for the whole year is £219,500,000. The total ordinary expenditure to March 9 was £664,255,639, compared with £651,185,862 at March 10, 1934. The total estimate of ordinary expenditure for the current year is £715,769,000.
