OMATA VISITORS DEFEATED. An Ornate tennis team visited Oakura on Saturday ift a friendly tennis match aftd was defeated by 15 sets, 114 games, to 10 sets, 96 games. The Oakuth school held a “learn to swim” Week at the river, wherfe the headmaster, Mr. Tills, Mrs. Bfeale and Mrs. Tills took them in hand, with the result that over two-thirds bf the children can swim. In addition certificates for swiinming tb the number bf 25 were gained as under: 1J miles, Peggy Beale; 440 yards, Norah Bell; 220 yards, Maisie Drake, Nola Jury, Loma Drake, Ruth Bfeale, Don Smith, Pat Thomas and Vernon Mangino; 100 yards, Jack Hau, Athol Tills, Errol Mangino, Mick Thomas and Ronald Jans; 50 yards, Greta Clarke, Marjorie Goodwin, Jean Cochran, Royce Price, Ray Press and Fred Moorcock; 25 yards, Mavis Samson, Barrie Tills, Pat Hughes, Gordon Shirley and Harry Shirley. A working bee was held recently at the tennis courts when seats were put round and the bank levelled. Mr. G. H. Miss Ethel Mallet fend Mr. Tom Jans, Bell gave the seats in the summer house.
