SMART ROAD PICNIC

WOMEN’S DIVISION OUTING. The picnic which was to have been held on the property of Mr. Sorensen, on account of tire windy weather was held at the Meeting of the Waters. In the shelter of the bush the weather was perfect. Members, their husbands and children numbered 40. After lunch sports, under the supervision of Messrs. T. Martin, A. Martin and W. Pearce were held in swift succession.. In the children’s races every child received a gift and fruit and a bag of sweets. Adult races resulted:— Men’s stepping the chain: Huggard 1. Nail driving: A. Martin 1. Quoits: W. Pearce 1, T. Martin 2, G. Hoby 3. Ladies’ stepping the chain: Mrs. C. Street 1.. Nail driving: Mrs. Huggard 1. Quoits: Miss J. Brewster 1, Mrs. Pearce 2, Miss Hawkings 3, Mrs. A. Martin 4. Races: Mrs. J. Hawkings 1, Mrs. T. Martin 2.

Walking race: Miss B. Street 1, At the conclusion Of a happy day a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Sorensen, who organised the outing, and Messrs. Hoby, Sans and Huggard and Mr. Sorensen for the use of their cars.
