ONGARUE STILL LEADS

SERVICES OF MATIERE MEN. Last Saturday six members of the Matiere cricket club travelled to Ongarue to play for the Ongarue club in a home match against the Veneer team. Veneer batted first, and occupied most of the afternoon in scoring 143 runs for five wickets declared, Schroeder 66 not out being top scorer. Bowling for Ongarue, H. Fauchelle took 1 for 18, J. Hearfield 2 for 41 and G. Rutherford 2 for 53. Ongarue had scored 52 runs for four wickets at the call of time. H. Stoddart 17, J. Hearfteld 11 and Kilpin 11 were the top-scorers. Ongarue still holds a substantial lead in the competition.
