CANTERBURY MARKETS. QUOTATIONS FOR PRODUCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The absence of North Island inquiries and the rains which have fallen in. most parts of Canterbury have had the effect of easing the potato market. The f.b.b. sacks in value to-day is £5 ss, or £4 on trucks. Some farmers have sold a small proportion of their crops at from £4 to £4 ss. The onion market' is also a shade easier, the f.o.b.s.i. quotation being £7 10s to £7 15s. The oats market is very firm, with a further hardening in prices. A GaitbnS are worth up to 3s, f.b.b.s.i.,' and B’s 2s 8d to 2s fed. Offers tb growers are 2s 4d to 2s 5d for A’s and to 2s Id for B’s. Good Algerians are worth 2s bn trucks.. Very few Duns are offered, but some business has been done at up to 2s 3d bn trucks. Fowl feed is. very firm. Prompt is worth ,4s 4d, f.b.b.s.e., and spread from 4s 513 to Cd. There is a normal trade inquiry for small seeds at this period of the year, and a fair amount bf inquiry is coming from the North Island. All markets are firm. Akaroa cocksfoot has been sold at as high as lid a bushel on trucks for heavy seed and at a halfpenny less for Plains. Little of the latter, however, is left in the farmers’ hands. Ryegrass is also tending to firm, 3s being readily available on trucks for good seed, with some business reported at 3s 3d. White clover is in heavy supply and is practically the only . seed for which there is not an active demand. It is quoted at from 7d to 9d a lb. A sample or two of red clover has been offered.
