19 SHEEP KILLED
ALSATIAN DOG DESTROYED. BULLETS AND AXE BLOW NEEDED. By Telegraph-Press AssociationFeilding, Last Night. After killing or maiming 19 lambs and sheep, an Alsatian dog was destroyed by the police to-day. Mr. D. Burke, a farmer near Feilding, found the dog this morning killing his lambs. He gave chase and shot the dbg which, though wounded, escaped. Eventually it was traced to its home. Sergeant Angland used 12 bullets from his automatic pistol and then had to use an axe finally to kill the Alsatian. Mr. Burke found on examination that the dog was biting lambs in the throat and had also disembowelled some grown sheep.
