. The death of Sir Henry Lambert, formerly senior Crown Agent for the Colonies, is reported in a London cable.
The Hon. James McLeod, M.L.C., left New Plymouth yesterday for Wellington in order to be present at the opening o£ Parliament to-day. Reference to the death of Mr. Harold Trimble was made at the meeting of the Inglewood Borough Council last night. The Mayor, Mr. J. Gibbs, stated that undoubtedly both Inglewood. and district had lost a most public-spirited man who had always served the public faithfully. A letter had been sent to the relatives voicing the council’s sense of the district’s loss. The council then stood in silence.
