“I have never been in any othej country where what might be called sentiment has been so much lavished on me in shops and offices as in th* United States,” said the Rev. Thomas Tait, at a luncheon given by the Auckland Rotary Club. Mr. Tait’s subject Was, “Some Impressions of Canada anti America.” Mr. Tait, who was formerly in charge of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Christchurch, spent nearly sever years in Canada, and travelled exten sively in the United States. “It is a commercialisation of sentiment, but I massay I appreciated it, in spite of its rathe: fictional value,” Mr. Tait said. ‘ I cannot remember ever being treated brusquely in a shop or office, and this painstaking courtesy certainly makes the wheels of industry run smoothly.”
