WOMEN’S DIVISION
HALF-YEARLY CONFERENCE HELD. GATHERING AT CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The half-yearly conference of the executive of Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union opened to-day, about 80 delegates and members being present. Mrs. H. A. Nutt, president of the North Canterbury executive, presided at the official opening ceremony, when _ the speakers included Mr. D. G. Sullivan, Mayor, and Mrs. E. R. McCombs, MJ, Mrs. W. H. Ward, Dominion president, acknowledging the expressions of welcome. The treasurer’s report and balance sheet, which showed a satisfactory credit, were adopted. Remits were considered as follows:— “That all delegates to provincial or executive meetings must vote” (Wanganui provincial executive). It was decided to amend the remit to read: “That the attention of delegates be called to the fact that they are expected to vote at he provincial and executive meetings.” In its amended form the remit was carried. “That the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union colours be registered” (Wanganui provincial executive). It was decided to defer the decision until later in the meeting, and in the meantime to ascertain the cost of registration. “That the Farmers’ Union be asked to co-operate more closely with its branches of the Womens’ Division” (Wanganui provincial executive). The remit was carried.
