FIGHT WITH POACHERS
WOUNDS OF GAMEKEEPER HIS ASSAILANT ESCAPES SCOTLAND YARD’S SEARCH ELABORATE RIFLE FOUND By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 14. During a night battle between two poachers and two gamekeepers at Holme, Huntingdonshire, one gamekeeper was shot in the head. The police later discovered an elaborate rifle capable of firing shot or bullets, and fitted with a silencer and a powerful electric torch. Scotland Yard has been called in to assist in an extensive search. Hearing muffled reports two gamekeepers, Evaritt and Parsons, crept into the woods and stalked the poachers, who had been frequent visitors. When Parsons shone his torch Evaritt heard a soft report and Parsons collapsed with a bullet in the head. Evaritt chased the poachers, who escaped by car.
