VICTORIA LEAGUE.
NEW PLYMOUTH GARDEN PARTY. Novice and expert with equal enthusiasm took part in the croquet competitions •at the Victoria League garden party yesterday afternoon in the grounds at the home of Mrs. J. R. Cruickshank, New Plymouth. After being welcomed by the president, Mrs. I. Roy, the guests wandered about in the shade of the trees and competed for various prizes offered. Mesdames Poynter, Knight and Whittaker were in charge of the guessing competitions and Miss M. Hayton of the taipo board. Croquet was managed by Mesdames White, Beale and Avery and Mrs. S. F. Burgess was on the gate. Afternoon tea was served by members of the committee.
