CONGRESS VISITORS
HUGE THRONGS AT MELBOURNE.
CHRISTMAS RUSH ANTICIPATED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, Nov.'27. The secretary of the Victorian Golf Association announced that the receipts of the centenary championships were £l4lB. In the excitement of the centenary celebrations Melbourne people seem, to have overlooked the approach of Christmas. Shopkeepers are now reminding them by advertised requests to shop early for Christmas. If any further delay occurs a huge rush is expected in Christmas week, as many -centenary and Eucharistic Congress visitors will remain. It is expected that the congress will bring more visitors to Melbourne than any other event of the centenary. Cardinal Macßory, when interviewed, said he was delighted with what he had seen of Australia. He was impressed by the general appearance of the people, and there seemed to be a high standard of social well-being in the country. The Pope had given him a special message of good wishes to all in Australia, and in addition a blessing to his own people.
