RAILWAY LINE BLOCKED.
DERAILMENT OF ENGINE NORTH AUCKLAND MISHAP OPUA EXPRESS HELD UP DELAYS ON MAIN TRUNK By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night The derailment of the engine Of a goods train at the entrance to. the TahekOroa siding, 14 miles north of Helensvillej about mid-day to-day blocked the mailt northern line, for six hours and interfered seriously with the schedule of the OpuaAuckland express, as well as with goods services in the district. The limited express for Wellington tonight was held back for 34 minutes to await the arrival at Auckland Of a special train bearing passengers and mail transferred from the delayed Opua express. It was hoped some Of the lost tiihe would be made up and that the train wbuld not be much behind schedule on arriving at Wellington. The goods train concerned in the mishap which resulted, in the delays was bound from Maungaturoto to Heleiisville. As the engine was entering a aiding at Tahekerba tb allow taother goods train to pass it became derailed and Was stuck fast, blocking both the main line and the siding. A breakdown train was sent to the scene but it was not until about 6 p.m. that the detailed engine WSs back on the lines.
About 50 passengers from the OpUfe express, as Well as a quantity bf mall, Were transferred to carriages sent specially from Auckland. The derailed engine was found to be undamaged tad later continued to HelensVille under its own poWOr. The Opua express also continued its journey when the line was Clear, reaching Auckland empty.
