TIMARU WOMAN’S DEATH
CHARGE AGAINST MOTOR DRIVER.

CANCELLATION OF HIS LICENSE.

A protracted inquiry into the death of Esther Josephine Rooney, who died as the result of injuries received when she was knocked down by a car driven by Preston George Stevens on November 14, was held to-day. The coroner returned a verdict that death was due to cerebral laceration, the result of being struck by a motor vehicle driven by Stevens.
Stevens was later charged in the Magistrate’s Court with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor vehicle. He was fined £lO and his license was cancelled. He was prohibited from securing another license for 12 months.
